Why is it that health professionals display such undisguised delight in giving you such news? It's a bit like the weather forecasters on TV who announce, with a broad grin, that we can expect torrential rain or six feet of snow.
Oh well, looks like I shall be getting another 'zip.'
And I'll probably start listing to the right when I walk. After all, I've already lost an ovary on that side, so after losing my gall bladder, there will be quite a big hole in there on my right side.
Keith offered to do the operation for me at home as he thinks he has all the requisite tools. I think perhaps the mention of keyhole surgery set him off on that train of thought.

Sounds like you've had more than your fair share of ills. Aren't these things treated with ultra-sound these days? You have my most sincere sympathy.
No, Cro. Apparently they only do that with kidney stones. They can't go it with gallstones because there's a chance that the bits will get stuck in the tubes coming out of the gall bladder and then you're in real trouble. That's how it was explained to me, anyway.
You have my sympathy, a colleague at work had an attack and descbribed the pain.. she is now waiting for an op to take away the gall bladder.. hope you get yours done soon too xx
Thanks Sage - me too!
Cro Magnon asked the quesion that occurred to me. My sister-in-law has gallstones, but she didn't have an op, but she has had to change her diet dratically. On the plus side, she has lost a lot of weight. Not that I'm suggesting that you need to, of course. (I think it's time to stop digging)
Rather you than me Jenny. You're putting on a brave face but it sounds rather unpleasant. Can gallstones be polished and turned into earrings?...< How did I have the gall to ask that?
Yes, I remember you saying that in a previous comment, SP. I have followed a low fat diet since my late teens. Mum had gall bladder problems, eventually having it removed and we had skimmed milk before anyone else knew what that was! For me it was just a way to keep slim (in those days I was!)So, I don't know what else I can do re diet, but I'll see what the doc says when I go back there.
Whether they can or not, YP, I shall not be doing that. Mum was given hers in a jar and kept them for years. Doesn't do anything for me!
I know they can be pretty painful good luck with it all - we should at least be grateful that there are still plenty bits of you left to enjoy
Lol, Elaine! I certainly want to avoid a repeat of the episodes I've experienced so far, that's for sure. :)
Hi! Jenny
I had Keyhole surgery for Gallstones,it was some years ago, when it was very new....quick recovery, sure you will be OK! Hope it's soon over for you. I'm going to 'update' soon. MRI Scan yesterday, and seeing Oncologist Monday 2nd.
Take care
Aileen
Glad you've had your scan and given the nice lady a good result!
Hope you won't have to wait too long for your op.
Wendy
Silly me... so much for my medical knowledge. I was confusing the two. Thank goodness I didn't become a doctor!
We aim to please, Wendy. ;)
Thanks Aileen. I do hope things go well for you too. :)
