They were completely boarded up and the gardens were choked with vegetation but I thought it was a shame that they couldn't be bought and renovated by someone.
Last week, we passed that way again and, look at the difference!
Not finished yet and I'm not enamoured of the pvc window frames and doors but a vast improvement on their original state and hopefully, new homes for someone.

We really like the old street light in the first pic. Looks like it is privately owned and belongs to the house next door. It's a real gem.
Wendy
It is good to see neglected property brought back to life, but it is a pity that the developers do not pay more attention to detail.
Yes, I think you're right, Wendy.
I agree, CW but I imagine this is a 'buy to let' scheme - the idea being simply to make some money!
It's just like "Homes Under the Hammer". First you get the run down heap and then you see the "after" version. Shame they lost that lovely blue garden gate. It had genuine character.
The developer seems to have acquired a lot more land at the front of the houses, or is it an optical ullusion?
You're right about the white PVC... it really should be outlawed (along with most of their dreadful TV ad's). But I quite expect I've done things to my own home that others would disapprove of.
YP I could always ask them if they would bequeath the blue gate to you. ;)
SP, I took the 'after' photo from the lower road. The houses are just past a fork in the road.
Cro, pvc is a bit of a blot on the landscape, but if these are 'buy to let' properties, which I suspect they are, the developer is going to choose the cheapest option, I guess.
Fork in road? How unladylike!
Even more unladylike, YP is that, as I took the later photo, I was standing in dog mess in the grass, which had been kindly left by some dog's moronic owner!
