How terribly sad. Your words made me cry big baby that I am.
James needs counselling himself. Those children - your grandchildren - do not belong to him. They are yours as much as his. On such a sad day there should have been some forgiveness in the air, a sense of time passing, a place to begin again. He had no right to drive you away from the social gathering where Hugh's friends and colleagues may have given you snippets about him that could have warmed your heart.Poor James - to be eaten up with bitterness like that - it can only chew at his very soul.
It is such a shame that he wasn't able to offer a hand of forgiveness on such a dreadful day.
I do not know what went on to lead up to this but he should know that there are two sides to every story. x
