Autumn walks

It's been ten months since my lovely dog Lucy died and since then, I have avoided all the routes we used to walk together, but today, I took the plunge and off I went for a stroll around our valley. Here are some of the photos I took on this beautiful autumn morning.

New novel

Simon Pope's wonderful work of art , currently showing in Wales has given me a great idea. My next novel is going to be a full length paperback of ...yes, you've guessed it - empty pages!
Before you scoff in incomprehending derision, philistines that you are, the idea is that you, the millions of readers of said masterpiece, will use your own imagination to fill the pages. So the story will be entirely your own.
Great idea? My thanks and unending gratitude are due to that maestro of the written word,
Keith.

Feel free to email me for a signed copy. It could be worth millions in years to come. You KNOW it makes sense!

Little Ginger Cat

This is Little Ginger Cat. She lives around here somewhere and likes to look in on me from time to time when I'm at home. Sometimes she is at the door waiting for me when I get home. She has a quick mooch around, ten minutes snooze on the spare bed and then she's off again till next time.

And your point is?

Sent to me by email yesterday by Mr T. Obviously directed at Keith...

Chester traffic

Off to supervision for my counselling at lunch-time yesterday. As I still have no replacement for my GPS which bit the dust a couple of months ago, I had to rely on memory and a bad sense of direction.
But that was to reckon without the fact that, this time, there were even more roads closed on my route, so a detour was necessary.
Whenever I have to go to Chester, I hate it a little bit more. Half the roads are closed due to roadworks and the other half are one way. Add to that the fact that the volume of traffic is about ten times too high for the roads available and you have a receipe for, if not disaster, at least very frayed nerves.
And so I found myself nearly 20 minutes late for my appointment, stuck in gridlock in a maze of little side streets, having to pull my wing mirror in on the demand of one idiot determined to drive through where there was no room to drive through and then being shouted at by another for even being there! Mind you, the last word he heard from me in reply was 'hell' and he did look rather taken aback.
I believe there is an ancient law forbidding welshmen to be within Chester city gates after sunset. I would be inclined to extend that to after sunrise, mid-day, midnight, the summer solstice... in fact - just don't bother!

Art appreciation

Last Wednesday we took the key stage 1 children (ages 4-7) to the Walker Art Gallery in Liverpool. It was a very full and tiring day but perhaps the highlight was when we walked into one of the rooms and three of the children immediately spotted a large painting in one corner (and try as I might, I can't find it featured on their website).
What attracted their attention was that there were nude men in the painting with their assets very obviously on display.
Within about two seconds, bush telegraph was in operation and there was an immediate flocking of little bodies to that corner, with much giggling, laughing and pointing.
I might add that those members of the public present who were not trampled underfoot in the stampede, were highly amused.

Plaster board and dust

So, we're still no further forward on the British Gas smart meter front and I've given up making non-existent appointments with them...
