Life in north east England (yes, we've moved!) with an eccentric Welshman and a small white dog that thinks he's a Rottweiler.
Little England??
I am just watching Little England on ITV1, simply because it's on, I've had a busy and not altogether satisfactory day and haven't got the energy to do anything else, but try as I might, I just can't see the point of emigrating to another country to immerse oneself in British culture, surrounded by many other fellow Brits. If anyone thinks they can, I am waiting to be enlightened!

"Brits"? Gawd, I hate that term. It is a modern addition to the language. Previously people would have written about the British or Britons but not bloody "Brits". Besides, as an Englishman I don't want to be put in the same basket as the Northern Irish, the Welsh - or worst of all the flaming bagpipe blowing, no tuition fee paying, whisky swilling Scots!
I have read about this programme but keep forgetting to watch it.
The 'Brits' do tend to congregate together. here in France, sometimes it is just nice to speak to a fellow English speaking person, but as we have a language school, all our teachers are ENglish speaking and luckily my neighbour is also English but other thank that our friends and other contact are all French.
I am Welsh and do like to explain the difference and explain I am not ENGLISH but WELSH. To French people it is Angleterre, regardless of where you come from!!
Will have to try and watch the programme
Sue
Well, YP, now you've got that off your chest, feeling better? :)
Sue, yes I understand that it is nice to speak to fellow British sometimes.
NO I AM NOT FEELING BETTER MARGARET!
YP, you'll get a smack if you carry on like that. ;)
