Life in Crewe Works

Dad says he still wants to write his second book, but I sometimes get the impression that it's become a bit of a millstone round his neck as his energy levels are not what they were. However, making short videos on You Tube is easier, quicker and probably more fun as well.

Two things are in his favour:

He has a lot of interesting experiences from his ninety two years to talk about.

He can talk for England (or Wales!)

  1. Hi Jennyta,

A brilliant first hand account of social history from a great source. It's a wonderful way to capture memories. It's the sort of record that the British Library were keen on, so I heard.

  2. Thanks, ZACL. I am going to encourage him to do more.

  3. I loved the moment where your dad got frustrated with his memory and banged the table saying "Hellfire!" and I loved his accent too - not quite northern - like Crewe itself. Why don't you do a video clip about your life at the chalkface?

  4. Yes, I thought that moment added something individual too, YP. :) Life at the chalkface is not something I like to dwell on these days. It could be a route to fame and stardom for you though!

    1. More like the route to a psychiatrist's couch Jenny!

    3. Chalkface? You mean Dover? I sense a story here.

    4. Sadly not, Dale - just boring old teaching memories. :)
