Ice Cream Sandwich anyone?

For some reason, I am unable to use email or the internet on my HTC HD2 mobile phone, unless I switch it to wifi. This is all the more puzzling as, a few weeks ago, our phone provider contacted Keith and said that I had been using data but I didn't have that option in my package, although for an extra £5 a month, I could have pretty well all I wanted, so Keith paid up. Since then, even though I don't know how I was downloading data before, I certainly can't now; nor can I send or receive multi-media messages. I have spent hours poring over the laptop in search of enlightenment, giving myself a headache and becoming cross-eyed in the process, but nothing has worked, so now, Keith has bravely offered to re-flash my phone with Ice Cream Sandwich instead of Gingerbread.
Confused? Yep! Me too, but I've got my fingers crossed that it works.
Keith doesn't have a problem with his phone - he has just awarded himself a Samsung Galaxy 3...

Is this a 'new' old language?

I bought ice-cream today, well actually it wasn't, it was sorbet; not much different, frozen, coloured and cold to the touch. I can understand this, but, 're-flash', (yep, I can make that out) with Ice Cream Sandwich instead of Gingerbread.....I'm flummoxed.

Regarding data downloading... I tend to have my wifi switched off unless I want it for something specific. Data still seeped in or out. It's paid for and I haven't reached my limits, however, I was as puzzled as you describe. I have now switched off some of the innocuous looking apps, bar one. It's a case of wait and see till I can conveniently ask someone in the know

This is all double dutch to me. Call me old fashioned - I use my phone for calls and texts and that is it.

AS long as it comes with a Flake down the middle, I shouldn't complain.

Cavemen never had these mobile phone problems.

I have a mobile phone sitting on the desk in front of me. I never use it, and wish I'd never bought the silly thing. I suppose I could call my wife in the kitchen!

I LOVE my Galaxy. It's like a computer in my handbag that I can make phone calls on!

For some reason, ZACL, Android give these 'foody' names to their operating systems for phones and tablets. You should see some of the names in the world of Linux. ;)

Mostly I do too, CW but I have to keep up with Keith in the 'anorak' stakes. ;)

Sadly no but there'll be an ice-cream van coming down your road any time soon!

Well, you're probably right, YP but were you there to know for sure?

You never know when it might come in useful though, Cro - assuming you keep it charged of course. :)

At last! A kindred spirit! Secretly, Helsie, I am quite jealous of Keith having one. ;)

You certainly wear your age well, YP. ;)

So, we're still no further forward on the British Gas smart meter front and I've given up making non-existent appointments with them...
