Wales in bloom

Or rather, chez Jennyta in bloom.

This honeysuckle was planted by mine own fair hand about eight years ago, soon after we had moved here and I was still enthusiastic and firm in the belief that things would actually grow in this garden.
How wrong I was! The soil is heavy and unproductive, so any plants I do introduce, now go in tubs.
So, the honeysuckle has been here for eight years and only this year has it decided to flower.
To she who waits....

Perhaps a botanist could explain to us why the honeysuckle flower evolved like this - a strange form indeed. Glad to see you are blogging again. I was beginning to imagine terrible things.

Well, I might have been trying to find a ship going in the direction of Blogland to stow away on, YP - but I wasn't. ;)

That is a gorgeous honeysuckle - mine isn't even in flower yet - maybe you do have green fingers after all.

We have the usual wild varieties around, but nothing as spectacular as that. WOW!

I have usually been able to grow things in the past, Elaine, but not in this garden.

Thanks, Cro. Not sure why it has suddenly decided to get its act together this year!

You may be glad of a contained honeysuckle. It looks very happy.

Yes, they can spread a bit. :)

Plaster board and dust

So, we're still no further forward on the British Gas smart meter front and I've given up making non-existent appointments with them...
