The sky was beginning to cloud over but it was still fairly bright.
This is the lock and if you look carefully, you will see my thumb in the top right hand corner. David Bailey I ain't!
Anyone from the south east will notice from the water level that we have definitely NOT suffered a lack of rainfall over the past few months. No drought here!
Meanwhile, the resident swans were snatching a few zeds. It was lunchtime, after all.

Great photos. Never seen such sleepy swans.
Really lovely pics. Dramatic sky looks great in the first one and I especially liked the one with the water falling into the lock (even with the thumb!)
Wendy
Yes, they were very relaxed, WendyCarole, even with quite a steady stream of people walking past them.
Wendy, I was trying out the camera on my new phone and was very pleased with it.
Wow, that was a phone camera!? Excellent quality. The waterfall one made me feel chilly, even with the thumb :-)
Yes, Katherine, it's a 5 megapixel camera.
Let's hope the south of England's terrible drought continues. I'd happily drive down with a thousand bottles of fresh Yorkshire water and sell it to the poor souls for £2 a shot.
I love those narrow boats.
As a native southerner (Even though I've lived in France for the past 40 years), I can assure YP that he'd be booted off the end of Brighton Pier.... bottled water and all!
I used to work next to a canal which was handy for lunch time walks! Flighty xx
YP and Cro - play nicely on my blog, please!
Flighty, a lot of people do the same where these photos were taken, when the weather's a bit warmer, though!
