Hi speed train?

"Birmingham to London - 45 minutes!" announced the newsreader proudly on this evening's news.
Wrexham to Mold (by bus) - 45 minutes.
Chez Jennyta to Wrexham (provided you manage to find a bus) 45 minutes.
Main road through mid Wales - practically a country lane.
You get the idea?
Of course, it makes complete sense to chuck so many millions at one, single route just to shave about 20 minutes off the journey time. Oh, and they will be extending that to Manchester and Leeds in due course, when they get round to it.
For the rest of us, back to pony and cart, I guess...

Sorry, but you cannot live where you do surrounded by all that beautiful countryside, not to mention the coast and be 45 minutes from London.

Nor would I want to, CW. My point was that other areas of the country would benefit far more by having that money spent on improving their rail and road networks.

As long as the money is ALL spent on British materials and labour, then it just gets spread around and eventually returns to the government through taxation. If they buy Chinese track, German carriages, and employ Latvian workers (as they tend to), then the millions disappear for ever.

I wonder how much that 45 min train ride is going to cost?

A typical waste of money which could be spent on much more worthwhile things! Flighty xx

I agree, Flighty.
Yes, Cro, and that brings up other issues.

Plaster board and dust

So, we're still no further forward on the British Gas smart meter front and I've given up making non-existent appointments with them...
