"It'll be fine in a second," I thought, as I hobbled to a nearby bench, but it wasn't. In fact it was painful and I had to hobble back home at greatly reduced speed.
"You should have rung me and I would have come to get you," said Keith, when he arrived home later.
"But you had already gone out by then," I said, visions of an ex-ambulance trundling across a wide expanse of grass, having skilfully negotiated the lake and the ducks.
"Well, I could have come in the Pajero, off-roading," he replied. I think he would have enjoyed that.
Anyway, I have spent the rest of the day trying ice packs, strapping it up, hobbling and generally trying in vain to reduce the golf ball that is now the outer side of my ankle, but what better excuse not to do the housework that I had planned for today?
Every cloud...!

What is it with people having problems with dogs today? I guess ours will have to forgo his walk until the coast is clear.
I feel sorry for Keith though -- you've thwarted his knightly instincts. That and some fun off-roading.
Don't worry, SP, he will be doing the cooking tonight. ;)
Sounds like an opening scene from "Casualty". Don't worry Jenny, Charlie Fairhead will make it better. I hope Paddy has apologised for his canine hastiness.
I wouldn't mind a bit part in Casualty, YP. The only trouble is that most of their patients seem to die during their operations. Paddy is reaping the rewards of his hasty behaviour as he will not be getting a walk this morning!
Oh dear I do hope that it's not too bad! It's the sort of accident that all to easily occurs.
Take care, Flighty xx
Still very painful at times, Flighty but hopefully not for too long. :)
Does Paddy not behave well enough to be let of his lead at times? Stupid question!
Hope that the ankle is on the mend now.
He's fine if we're on a desert island with no possibility of any cats, rabbits, squirrels or other dogs appearing on the horizon, CW. If a cat appeared, he would be half way to Chester before I could blink!
Ankle making slow progress but I'm getting there, thanks. :)
