"Well, there is only one piece of advice I can give you," said the wisest of wise men. "The secret of happiness is to see all the marvels of the world and never to forget the drops of oil on the spoon."

A grand day out - not

"What are we doing on Saturday?" asked Keith this evening. Such is our overcrowded and hectic social schedule that it took me all of a millisecond to answer.
"Nothing," I said.
So the upshot is that he has decided he absolutely must go to the Institute of Certified Locksmiths' security exhibition in Nottingham.
"Would you like to come?" he asked hopefully.
I tried to look enthusiastic.
"It will be bigger than the one we went to in Telford," he said, persuasively.
Try as I might, I just couldn't regard that as a selling point.
"Do I have to?" I said eventually.
He took pity on me. "No, of course not," he said.
So that's OK. I can get on with chewing glass.
Well, which would you rather do?

  1. How heartless of you! Poor old Keith. He has to travel all the way to Nottingham on his own. You could volunteer to travel with him but meet up after the locksmiths' exhibition. In Nottingham you could mosey round the shops, visit a museum or perhaps get legless in a city centre pub.Women can be so insensitive!

  2. Yes, ZACL, as in 'I'd rather...' ;)
YP, heartless we are indeed, but life is too short!

  3. In reality, I bet you wouldn't. :)

  4. Maybe not, ZACL but it would be a close call! ;)

  6. He thinks he might not go now, after all.

  7. That's a shame, these specialised exhibitions, especially locks, etc. could be interesting, if not for any other reason than to keep abreast of developments.

That's how the cookie crumbles I suppose.

  9. Jenny - Keith has provided you with a unique garden feature in the shape of the Jaguar, the least you can do is accompany him to Nottingham. It wasn't like this when we were cave people.

  10. There are others he can go to during the year, ZACL
YP, I can just visualise you dragging the nearest cavewoman off by her hair - but not to a locksmith convention. ;)

  11. Others may not be the same type or size of the exhibition young one was wanting to visit. It is delightful your company was desired. You must be a special lady.

    :)

  12. I think you may be labouring under a misapprehension, ZACL. Whilst I consider us both to be 'young' as in 'being old always starts later than the age that I am', Keith is my partner - actually 4 months older than me. :)

  13. Ah well, if it is a misapprehension, it is a nice one. :)
