Ready for take off

Preparations for our departure for France are in their last stages. At the moment, I am at home waiting for a delivery of a car-mount for our camcorder, ordered by Keith for our trip so that we can film while driving (Don't ask!!!). Unfortunately, he forgot to specify that it be delivered to the shop, hence my enforced house-sitting.
House and dog sitting arrangements are finalised.
Packing is mostly done.
GPS is programmed.
My laptop, mobile phones, PDA, camcorder, digital camera, relevant leads, chargers and adaptors, memory cards, traveller's cheques, euros - all are ready and waiting.
Alarm set for an early start tomorrow because we need to arrive in Dover at 2.30p.m. as we sail at 3.15.
Phone call from Keith: What date do we leave?
Me: Tomorrow, of course.
K: And what is the date on our booking?
Me: The 5th. Why? What's the problem?
K: And what date is it today?
ME: (as realisation dawns slowly) Oh........the 3rd. See what you mean.
So, on to plan B:

Depart at a later hour for a leisurely wander down to Dover and overnight stay somewhere along the way!
Well done, Keith - you spotted my deliberate mistake then!! :)

Traveling by ferry, are you? How long is the journey across the channel? How much does it cost? I've never been, but my dad has. It was 1941. I suppose you and Keith will have a more enjoyable trip.

I do hope you'll post every day, Jenny. Pics too. I'm excited! A virtual journey to France. Brilliant!!

journey across is a couple of hours, can't remember how much it costs - Keith has paid for that bit! With all the electronic I.T. wizardry we're taking with us, I am hoping to be able to blog at least some of the time - we'll see! At present, Keith is having teething troubles with the bluetooth GPS! :( Maybe I'd better put a map in the glove compartment, just in case!

Hello Railwayman!

No, Dad was not involved at Dieppe, thank goodness. He was a driver/mechanic in the Royal Canadian Signal Corps. He drove and maintained a big lorry which carried a powerful wireless set. He came home just fine, thank you.

I see now why I found your page looking for information on k9 dog training and am glad I stopped by even though this is not a perfect match. Great blog thanks for the read.

This is an interesting blog you have. I'm going to bookmark you and come back, because I'm actually searching for information on how to shoot and edit videos. I've found a site where they have a great video course on DVD's, but I'm looking for something a little more within my budget

So, we're still no further forward on the British Gas smart meter front and I've given up making non-existent appointments with them...
